What is personal grooming?

Personal grooming such as brushing hair, applying makeup and more.

From an economic point of view, it is argued that grooming is a non-market activity. The standard view is that time spent in non-market activities is counterproductive as it reduces work effort and job commitment.

However, we at Mary Kay believe based on studies conduct from a physiological and psychological perspective that personal grooming provides an important source of communication about individuals, their values and personalities. There is reason to believe that certain productive personality traits may be inferred on the basis of personal grooming.

It is suggested that the key to success in any service industry is a well groomed workforce. Special attention to all aspects of one's personal appearance will boost self-esteem and create a winning mindset, the very qualities that go hand in hand with successfulness in life.
